4-Day Rwanda Gorilla & Volcanoes Experience

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali — Welcome to Rwanda

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport you will be warmly welcomed by your GorillaWise guide and transferred to your hotel. Depending on arrival time, enjoy a relaxed introduction to Rwanda's capital — one of Africa's cleanest and most vibrant cities. The remainder of the day is at leisure to rest after your international journey.

Day 2: Kigali City Tour & Genocide Memorial — Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, embark on a guided exploration of Kigali offering insight into Rwanda's rich culture, history, and remarkable transformation. The highlight of the morning is a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial — a powerful and educational experience that illuminates Rwanda's past and inspiring journey toward unity. Following lunch, continue north through Rwanda's spectacular "Land of a Thousand Hills" landscape toward Volcanoes National Park. Arrive at your lodge in the afternoon for a relaxing evening surrounded by Virunga Mountain scenery.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking & Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund Experience

Today is the highlight of the journey. After an early breakfast, transfer to park headquarters for a ranger briefing before venturing into the Virunga Mountains in search of one of the park's habituated gorilla families. Spend a precious hour observing these gentle giants — family interactions, playful juveniles, nurturing mothers, and powerful silverbacks. After lunch, visit the renowned Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund campus (Ellen DeGeneres Campus) for interactive conservation exhibits and deeper insight into the pioneering work protecting mountain gorillas.

Day 4: Golden Monkey Trekking — Return to Kigali — Departure

Following breakfast, return to Volcanoes National Park for golden monkey trekking in the bamboo forests at the foot of the volcanoes. These rare, energetic primates are endemic to the Virunga ecosystem and offer excellent photography opportunities. After the trek, return to your lodge for lunch before the scenic drive back to Kigali. Transfer to the airport for departure.
