Lake Manyara National Park

Lake Manyara National Park is a compact but visually stunning park set beneath the dramatic wall of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Despite its small size, it packs an extraordinary variety of habitats β€” lush groundwater forest, open savannah, acacia woodlands, and a soda lake that turns pink with flamingos β€” into just 330 square kilometres. The park is famous for its tree-climbing lions β€” a unique and rarely-seen behaviour shared with only a handful of locations in Africa. Large troops of baboons, elephants, and diverse waterbirds make Lake Manyara an ideal first park on the classic northern Tanzania safari circuit.
